BIG Update…

I am still here and decluttering my home. Life just didn’t go as planned. I didn’t even follow my plan from the beginning of the year. There were periods where I was just way too busy with daily life to even think of cleaning and decluttering. There was also smaller times where I did work hard to declutter. Lately, I had time. My girls are in school and my dh is working. That leave me home alone with my son. I take advantage that he still naps during the day to do daily stuff or to do a project like cleaning a special spot.

I just got rid of 12 black garbage bags and 2 boxes. It felt so good to see them go. My house is still a mess but I will conquer this clutter.

 

Here’s an update by room and what I did.

Bedrooms: In the last month and a half, all the bedrooms have had a make-over. New paint on ceilings and walls. New flooring too. My dad helped me. He was my handyman. He took time from his schedule and painted and changed the flooring. I moved the girls all together in one room. My son has his own room right now. Dh and I are now in the medium room. We have enough space for us in that room. The bedrooms are all just for sleeping.

I also cleaned quite a bit downstairs. Most of the too small clothes are gone. No one wanted to buy them on the for sale site for my city, that I just donated them.  I also got rid of shoes and boots. They were not selling either. I really hope the clothes and footwear goes to a home with deserving children that really need them.

Dining room: I got rid of the extra fridge. Gave it also for donation. The organization check them out and give them to families in need. It feels good to help.

I am loving the results with the bedrooms. Next projects are the dining room, kitchen and living room. I haven’t redeemed my gifts from last x-mas or my b-day from my parents. They are paying for new flooring in the hallway, kitchen and living room. I may be able to pay for my living room to get new flooring too. Not sure yet. We’ll start with the flooring that my parents bought and go from there. I would love to paint the kitchen and dining room too. They so need a make-over.

March Update

I haven’t forgotten this blog. Just super busy with life. I had a few sick kids and then I got sick. Still trying to stay on top of the previous cleaning too.

What I have done in March:

• wash half the walls in the kitchen
• wash most cabinets
• declutter most of the cabinets and put everything in the right place
• kept the livingroom clean
• kept the countertop more clean and decluttered
• Clean the dishes more often

What needs to be done:

• finish washing the walls
• finish decluttering the cabinets
• wash the kitchen/diningroom/hallway floor
• declutter and put it all away nicely the stuff in the hall closet
• clean the master bedroom.

Yes, the master bedroom and the hallway closet haven’t been touch. I am kinda sad about it but my kids are more important than things like cleaning and decluttering.

I’m also thinking of working on the clothes as the weather has been gorgeous lately and the girls needs their summer clothes sooner than later. I also want to start selling the boy clothes that my son don’t fit in anymore. So the decluttering of the master bedroom and hallway may have to wait just a bit longer than planned.

Entryway done!

Dh cleaned the floor and stairs last weekend. It looks good but you still see all the marks from the boots. Maybe I will have to paint it this summer to refresh the paint.

After entryway #2

 

So I took more pictures of the entryway. Now please remember that it is the dead of winter here and when we get ready for outside, we have boots, snowpants, coats, mitts, hats, scarves, etc… Need to make sure the girls are properly dressed. All those are gone as the girls are in school. So the entryway looks way cleaner than it usually is when the girls are home. lol

Now I didn’t wash the baseboard or the floor as that will get dirty within a day or so. Plus with my back/hip pain, I avoid doing stuff like that. I need to ask Dh if he can clean that next wkend.

I got a new mirror for this corner. I think it makes this corner looks nicer. We were really not using the bulletin board at all. So no need to keep it there.

 

I also got this lovely frame. I think it give the area a splash of color along with the cubbies for the kids items.

Before Entryway #2 and livingroom

So this wk, I kept cleaning the livingroom and the #2 entryway. I was busy with my dailly routine, kids and cooking, so I didn’t get  everything that I needed to be done. I need to get it all done before Feb 1st.

This is where my son plays some of the time. The books are all over too. The girls don’t keep them well placed. I did clean and set the book all in order but I still need to take a picture of that.


This is the entryway. We use this everyday. As you can see those shelves are used to put stuff and hang out coats and stuff on the hooks. Love them. My father in law made them the weekend that we moved it and we painted them last yr. As the kids grows, I think we will maybe bring their shelf higher so that their snowpants don’t hang too low. We’ll see about that. Not sure that Dh will be happy about that. He is not a handyman. lol


As you can see, this is a catch-all.  This needs to be cleaned and stuff needs to be thrown away. Hopefully this weekend.

Entryway #1 Before/After

We use this as the changing table area where we change our son. The door isn’t used at all to enter or exit the house.

You may see also a pack of socks on that shelf. They are missing their pair. No clue how we lost them. There is diaper covers on the table for the next change of diapers. Plus my son’s toys are just beside which is part of the livingroom. That’s next time before/after pics. lol

Entryway #1

 

I started to clean the entryway last wk. Almost done too!. I just need to put away the box of wipes and find the second sock for those orphans socks.

I also started to clean the books on the entertainment center. All is clean and nicely place. I even installed the new dvd player that we got for x-mas. Need to finish that corner this wk, I hope!
